The SLS AMG Black Series (2013-2014) is the ultimate evolution of Mercedes' gullwing supercar, built by AMG as a track-focused halo car. It uses a hand-assembled 6.3-liter M159 naturally aspirated V8 producing 631 hp, a 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle, extensive carbon fiber bodywork, and retuned suspension with adjustable coilovers. It was the final and most extreme front-engined SLS and one of the last great naturally aspirated AMG V8 flagships.
It combines a front-mid-mounted, high-revving atmospheric V8 with gullwing doors and genuine track-car aggression, a formula AMG has not repeated. Very limited production and its status as the swansong of the SLS and of the M159 engine make it a cornerstone of modern AMG heritage.
