The Veyron 16.4 Super Sport (2010-2011) is the highest-output production Veyron, using the 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 uprated to 1,200 PS and 1,500 Nm, with revised turbos, intercoolers and aero. It set a 267.8 mph production-car record in 2010 (later electronically limited to 258 mph for customer cars) and marks the peak of the Veyron's engineering ambition. Production was limited to 30 customer cars plus 5 World Record Edition cars.
It was the fastest production car of its era and the culmination of Ferdinand Piëch's no-compromise Volkswagen Group project, with a carbon monocoque, 7-speed DSG and extreme thermal engineering. Tiny production numbers and its status as the definitive Veyron give it lasting cultural and historical weight.
