The 488 Pista Spider (2018-2020) is the open-top version of Ferrari's track-focused 488 Pista, using a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 producing 710 hp with a retractable hardtop. It borrows heavily from the 488 Challenge and GTE racing programs, with extensive weight reduction, aerodynamic revisions and Ferrari's Side Slip Control. It is regarded as one of the most extreme series-production V8 convertibles Ferrari has built.
Its engine, derived from the 488 Challenge race car, won International Engine of the Year multiple times, and the Pista Spider pairs that with an open-air experience few track-bred cars offer. Limited production and its status as the last of the pure twin-turbo mid-V8 Pista line give it lasting significance.
